Well, February flew by in a blink of an eye! I dropped my laptop at the start of the month, which damaged the HDD and the following 3-4 weeks have been a blur. It has knocked me off my schedule by about two weeks, hence not posting anything on here for a while. Im back on track though, so am playing catch up. Lots of drawings to show, and still taking orders, currently till June.
Tip of the day - Don't drop your laptop ... when its on and open ... on a hard floor!

June 2015
Its been a while since I wrote a journal entry. The first thing to say is that I have survived my first year! I celebrated the end of year one as a full-time artist at the beginning of June by launching my Playful Pets competition to win a portrait of your pet, which went down well! I am also delighted to say that I met my ambitious target of drawing 100 dogs in the first year by drawing 108 dogs, 4 rabbits, 2 humans and a cat.
In summary, it's twice as many hours as my previous job in a shop, and doesn't pay as well (yet!), but I wouldn't change it for the world. Really looking forward to year two.
January 2015
What a year for 2014, who knew becoming self-employed would be so tough?! Needless to say I have learnt a great deal so far about the business side of being an artist, but there is still a lot to grasp.
I have lots planned for 2015, including some new drawings to sell as originals and prints to go along side my ever popular commission service. I would also like to get a couple of personal drawings finished off, which I simply haven't had time for with all the other drawings to finish in time for Christmas. I have a full diary until May, so who knows, last year I filled my Christmas dairy by August, could it be sooner this year? I also plan o
September 2014
Well, 3 months in as a freelance artist, and I couldnt be happeir. Come on, I sit and draw for a living :D
I have a full diary until Christmas and have filled upto March 2015. I had initially planned to draw a new peice per month to sell as an original and prints, but I havent had time with all the commissions.
Also, as well as being a featured artist with Daler-Rowney, I am now a featured artist with Pentel, one of six on their website. I have also been featured in Octobers issue of Dogs Today magazine after drawing their office dog Betty. A whole page about my artwork!
One very chuffed artist :)
August 2014
WOW! What a 1st two months. Firstly, I have really enjoyed self-employment, though it is quite tough. I love being able to draw more, and have managed one or two drawings a week. My initial plan of 3 per week was a little ambitious, my elbow and finger couldn't keep up!
My only concern holding me back from the leap to self-employment has disappeared. I was worried that the demand could dry up, but as of the end of July I am now fully booked now through December, based on 2 drawings per week, and am now quoting January 2015 dates. I experianced a mad Christmas rush in the middle of July. CHRISTMAS!! I cannot beleive it, I couldn't be happier

I wouldn't recommend a carpeted floor for that matter. Be looking forward to your new posts.
